The stones I pick up at the beach are the inspiration for this group of work: in my hands I feel warmth from the sun, I see evidence of time. I carry the heft of their weight. I’m drawn to the essence of that physical experience and question “What drives attachment from the physical to the emotional? What grows from being contained?”

Each piece is hand-built, with slabs, pinching, and paddling. I like to group them together, to see how they collaborate. The minimal texture, color and decoration are nods to topographical maps and the layers one sees in rock formations.
